Meet 2016 Fogo Island Arts artists-in-residence Paul P. and Walter Scott during this special Open Studios event. FIA Strategic Director Nicolaus Schafhausen will lead an informal conversation with the artists about what they’re working on during their residencies. The event begins at Tower Studio in Shoal Bay and continues at Long Studio, Joe Batt’s Arm. Everyone welcome; refreshments provided.

Paul P. (Tower Studio, 3 pm) is a Canadian artist known primarily for his intimate drawings and oil paintings of young men that reimagine found erotic photographs within 19th century aesthetic styles. His practice also includes evocative landscapes, plein-air drawing, and sculptural works in the form of furniture.

Walter Scott (Long Studio, 4:15 pm) is an interdisciplinary artist working across writing, illustration, performance and sculpture. His comic book series, Wendy, explores the narrative of a fictional young woman living in an urban centre who aspires to global success and art stardom but whose dreams are perpetually derailed.
