Fogo Island Arts is proud to launch Fogo Island Film, a new program devoted to international films that consider the diversity of relationships between nature and society. The inaugural edition, Resistance and Resilience, will take place at the Fogo Island Inn cinema with free screenings and conversations from May through November 2018.

Fogo Island Arts will offer the 2018 recipients of the prestigious ars viva Prize for Visual Arts a residency on Fogo Island as part of a special partnership, now in its second year, with Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e. V. (Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries).

Fogo Island Arts presents a special concert by Mike Penton, Fogo Island singer, song-writer and guitar-player. The self-taught 19-year old musician recently completed a two-month residency with Fogo Island Arts in Europe, during which he underwent professional voice training and played live performances in Vienna, Berlin and Budapest. Alexandra McIntosh, Director of Programs and Exhibitions at Fogo Island Arts will join Penton for an introductory conversation about his experiences, musical development and future projects.
