Ute Thon
Ute Thon is a writer and art critic based in Hamburg, Germany. As text-editor-in-chief of ART magazine and foreign correspondent in New York she has been covering the art world, reporting on artists and institutions, film festivals and biennials, but also on the underground art scene in Iran. Her interviews and essays on post-humanism or gender gaps in the art world appeared in leading publications, including Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, KUNSTFORUM, Die Zeit, Stern, Vogue. As an expert on film and American contemporary art, she curated exhibitions and chaired panels. She studied in Berlin and graduated with a PhD in Semiotics and Film Studies from Universität der Künste (UDK) in 1988.
